It's pretty remarkable when two candidates who pretty much hate each others' guts on the campaign trail can shift gears and mutually appear together at a charity event. Senators Obama and McCain each gave "keynote-type" addresses at the Al Smith charity dinner in New York, and I was pretty impressed. McCain was a tad more raucous than Obama was, but that's OK...Obama gave a very subtle and moving bit about Tim Russert at one point, and McCain took the moral high ground by catching Obama a tad by surprise when saying "I can't wish him luck, but I wish him well." Great stuff.
